National Director of Operations, Outpatient Eating Disorder

Dawn Delgado, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and an EMDR trained trauma specialist. She holds both her CEDS, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and CEDS-S Supervisor designation through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.  Dawn has dedicated herself to working with adolescents and adults recovering from eating disorders and co-occurring mental health issues for over 15 years.

In addition, to her lengthy tenure at Center For Discovery, she has directed and been instrumental in developing residential, partial hospitalization/day treatment, intensive outpatient, and transitional living programs. Trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), she incorporates this form of trauma treatment in her private practice, Inspire Evolve, and into the clinical programming at Center For Discovery.  An active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), she is a former chair member of the Los Angeles chapter. Dawn has a passion for yoga and travel and has served as a consultant to clinics and hospitals in Bali, Singapore, Java, and Dubai.

Jessica Harris graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology and a minor in Child Development. She obtained her Masters in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Over the past 5 years, she has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in various settings. Prior to joining the Center For Discovery team, Jessica worked as the Program Manager of a Residential Treatment Center treating adult women with eating disorders.

She has additional experience working with eating disorders at the inpatient, partial and outpatient level of care treating adult and adolescent men and women. During her graduate studies, Jessica worked as a developmental therapist with special needs children and their families assisting them in supporting their child’s communication, relational and social skills needs.  Jessica uses a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, narrative therapy and solution focused therapy.  She is passionate about providing individualized and group support in the IOP setting.

Cyndi Pulsinelli obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in San Diego, California. She also holds undergraduate degrees in Communication Studies and Psychology with a minor in Civic Leadership. She is a passionate clinician who believes in helping individuals and families acknowledge their authenticity while finding balance in the family system.

She practices using evidence based treatment modalities including DBT and CBT, while cultivating hope through a strengths-based approach. She has experience working with a broad range of issues including eating disorders, grief and loss, mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, family struggles, PTSD, and crisis intervention.

Cyndi has worked at Discovery’s residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient centers in Del Mar, Newport Beach, and La Jolla; where she worked as primary therapist and support staff. She provided individual, family, and group psychotherapy to adolescents and adults with eating disorders and dual diagnosis. During her graduate studies, she worked for San Diego Hospice as a bereavement counselor, providing psychotherapy to individuals and families through their bereavement journeys. While also working for the San Diego Police Department as a Crisis Interventionist for several years, offering psychological first-aid to victims and witnesses who have experienced trauma. Cyndi currently serves as a volunteer Chaplin for the Office of Emergency Services of San Diego County, providing counseling services to first-responders and victims in emergency situations.

Kacy earned her bachelor’s of science in Clinical Nutrition and minor in Psychology from the University of New Jersey, Davis and went on to earn her master’s of science in Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition from New Jersey State University Northridge. To complement her education in nutrition, Kacy obtained a certificate in personal training from the American Council on Exercise.

Essentially by accident Kacy found a way to combine all her areas of interest and education when she began working as a Diet Tech in 2009 at A New Journey Eating Disorder Center. Once Kacy completed her dietetic internship through CSUN, she became a Registered Dietitian at ANJ and worked with adults and adolescents at the intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial day treatment (PDT) levels of care. In Early 2014 Kacy began working Center For Discovery where she now finds fulfilment working in adolescent residential and adult Outpatient eating disorder treatment. Kacy also maintains a private practice, The Shameless Eater, in Westwood, Ca and is serving as secretary of Behavioral Health and Nutrition dietetic practice group for the 2014-2016 term.

Brendan is a graduate of Antioch University Los Angeles, where he earned a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology, then going on to the Southern California Counseling Center where he was trained in Family Systems, EMDR and the Trauma Resiliency Model. He has worked in various eating disorder treatment centers at different levels of care. He also has a private practice in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles.

Brendan brings his passion for growth and transformation to his work where he gets to engage clients in exploring how we make meaning of our lives in relation to our world, especially examining how external forces such as social influence, familial and cultural histories might influence the stories we tell and come to identify with.

Paige Handler, RD

Registered Dietitian

Paige Handler is a Registered Dietitian and Certificated Lactation Educator (CLE).  She received a Bachelor of Arts in both Drama and Psychology from Vassar College and completed her Didactic Program in Dietetics at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) where she also completed her Dietetic Internship.  Paige expects to complete her Master’s of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences by the end of 2017.  During her graduate studies, Paige created a thesis project based on increasing eating disorder knowledge amongst adolescents through theater and education.  Prior to joining the team at Center for Discovery, Paige gained her clinical experience as an intern at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Paige adheres to the All Foods Fit Philosophy and enjoys helping clients find their own path to recovery by creating a healthy relationship with food.  She works with both adolescent and adult clients on setting and achieving their individual goals while focusing on the principles of intuitive eating.

She is a member of the Los Angeles Dietetic Association and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Brooke Alderman, LMFT, holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#83936).She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, and trauma. Ms. Alderman practices from a post-modern approach informed by her familial experience with process addictions, and is trained in EMDR for trauma and addictions treatment. She has facilitated group therapy in psychodrama, experiential therapy, mindfulness, substance abuse, eating disorders, sexual addiction, spirituality and primary process.

Ms. Alderman created and founded Creating Intuition, a comprehensive Eating Disorder Curriculum she uses to treat both her clients in private practice as well as in a group setting. Brooke is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish. During graduate school she trained at PUC Schools, a consortium of Charter Schools in underserved areas of Los Angeles. She conducted over 500 hours of family therapy in Spanish and created an anti-bullying curriculum in both English and Spanish. She is a member of California Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) as well as a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and the National Association of Collegiate Scholars (NCSC).

Vladimir Lipovetsky is the medical director at Center For Discovery Beverly Hills treating adolescents, adults and families impacted by psychiatric conditions, including eating disorders, substance abuse and others.  Dr. Lipovetsky is a psychiatrist who earned his MD at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine.  He completed his psychiatry residency training at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.  There he also completed a fellowship in trauma. He is a board certified psychiatrist with 20 years of experience of treating patients across the range of psychiatric disorders, including eating disorders.

Lauren is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, with a concentration in Applied Nutrition. She has personally supported friends in their own eating disorder recovery, and wrote a senior research project on nutrition counseling for individuals with eating disorders. Her combined love of helping others and passion for health and wellness led her to pursue a career in the field of eating disorder treatment.  She finds it incredibly rewarding to work in a profession focused on recovery and improving others’ quality of life, and she is excited to be a part of the Discovery, Beverly Hills team.

Whitney trained as a dancer from age four and began training in aerial arts in 2007, after graduating UCLA with a Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major. Yoga was the perfect complement for the huge physical and mental toll that aerial and dance took on Whitney’s body, and she wanted to share the amazing benefits of yoga with everyone in the community.

Now she is certified in Bikram, Hot Fusion yoga, aerial fitness, aerial yoga and has her 200RYT for Vinyasa. She has taught yoga at COACHELLA (and most recently Desert Trip) for six years. She also leads AIR Aerial Yoga Teacher Trainings and Retreats nationwide. Join Whitney for her yoga class and you will be sure to stretch and smile. Your soul will thank you.
